Rising Leaders Program-
Nominations Being Accepted for 2017 Rising Leaders Program
The Rising Leaders Program (RLP) is NEACAC's most recent Professional Development experience for both secondary school and college/university admission colleagues. The RLP is an opportunity to come together, develop new leadership and management skills, and gain new tools to become even more well-informed, independent and motivated professionals to enhance their skills and become more involved in the leadership and programming in the profession.
The kick-off meeting of the 2017 Rising Leaders Program will be held June 26-28 at a location to be determined, most likely a college campus.
Unlike other NEACAC professional development programs, participants will work closely with an assigned, highly experienced mentor over the course of an entire year. During the kick-off, participants will meet and become acquainted with their assigned mentor, attend leadership development sessions, and be introduced to the curriculum for the following year. Subsequent to the kick-off, Rising Leaders and their Mentors meet or communicate on a regular basis to work through a comprehensive leadership curriculum addressing issues and challenges we all face in our professional lives. The program will focus on the development of public speaking and communication skills, managing roles and expectations, organization and time management, networking, ethical leadership, data analysis and budget management.
The RLP is best suited for professionals already engaged in the college admission and counseling fields for 3-6 years who wish to become leaders in the field, at their institutions and within NEACAC. Space is limited to approximately 12-15 participants, paired with 6-8 mentors. NEW for 2017 -- the program cost will be covered by NEACAC for selected participants and mentors!
If you feel called to serve as a mentor, or know someone who might be a great mentor, please send the name(s) to Jonathan Henry, RLP 2017 Chair, at firstname.lastname@example.org.
If you'd like to nominate someone as a participant for the 2017 RLP program, please send the name to Jonathan Henry, email address above. An application for participation will be forwarded to those individuals. Submitted applications will be reviewed by the RLP planning committee.
