ARC (Anti-Racist Collaborative)
Thursday, April 14, 2022, 3:30 AM - 4:30 PM EDT
Category: Events

NEACAC is excited to announce a new program. The Anti-Racist Collaborative, or ARC, is a cohort-based professional development experience working towards dismantling systemic racism. Cohorts will workshop dilemmas to make their spheres of influence more inclusive and equitable to all individuals. In a call for unity and community, the ARC is an opportunity to lead by example while fostering a shared and creative space for current anti-racist practitioners to continue “doing the work.” Participants will create action plans to make policies and practices that put those who are marginalized at the center and better serve those communities.  Since the summer of 2020, several institutions have put out anti-racist statements and calls for inclusion. The goal of the ARC is to continue to put that work into effect, as well as provide a community for professionals committed to creating more anti-racist policies and practices.

The Anti-Racist Collaborative is a signature event born out of the collaboration between the IDEA Committee’s Anti-Racist Initiatives and Inclusive Policies & Practices Subcommittees.  The Anti-Racist Collaborative will be held on August 11th, 2022 at Kingswood Oxford School in West Hartford, CT. Participants will attend the one-day, in-person event as well as work in pre- and post-conference virtual spaces. In looking towards building the best cohort possible for the collaborative, we’ll be soliciting nominations and self-nominations beginning on April 15th. Please keep your eyes peeled for the short nomination form and for more information about the conference.

Interested in learning more? Save the date for 3:30 on Thursday, April 14th where members of the ARC planning committee will host a one-hour informational meeting on zoom. Those interested should Register Here.

This informational meeting is meant to be a collaborative space to establish the grounding principles and agenda for the August 11th ARC. Please bring your ideas and your energy to this online forum. We will be curating a space to discuss norms for ARC, and also take some time to prepare for the May Coffee Chat which is TBD. Of course, we also  have time to answer questions about what ARC will be. We hope to utilize our past NEACAC principles of dialogue and discussion so that we can jump right into doing the work of including all the voices of our community.
