Coming Together Pre-Conference

This year will be the fifth annual Coming Together Pre-Conference (CTC)! CTC is a one-day program that takes place before the Annual Meeting & Conference (AMC) starts. This event is designed to create space for higher education professionals and secondary school counselors to come together and engage in conversations focused on diversity, equity, inclusion, and access in our field.

This year, conversations will center around our theme - Building Roots

Sessions will offer various educational opportunities, facilitated discussion, and networking for attendees of various backgrounds, identities, and experiences. Additionally, this year, we are introducing a Faculty Mentor model to enhance the depth and meaning of the conversations and connections built throughout the program. We look forward to attendees having the opportunity to engage with mentors throughout the conference, allowing for more time to ask questions, discuss important topics, and share experiences. The goal is for every attendee to leave CTC feeling engaged and empowered to take action in a way that will contribute to making higher education a more inclusive and accessible space for each other and students.

CTC will occur on Wednesday, May 24, 2023, beginning at 8AM. The program will include a keynote address from Dr. Raul Fernandez, Senior Lecturer and past Associate Dean for Equity, Diversity & Inclusion at Boston University’s Wheelock College of Education & Human Development. The program will also include two session blocks, faculty mentor meetings, and a final reflection time before the AMC Welcome. Participants will also be invited to attend an evening social on Thursday night during AMC, to reconnect with faculty mentors and fellow CTC attendees!
