Crying In My Boss’s Office And Other Challenges Along the Road of Transitioning
How are you working to support your trans and non-binary colleagues and employees? Hear from Sylvia as she shares her experience of coming out as transgender while working as an admission counselor, and Eliza, her supervisor. Through their own anecdotes, Sylvia and Eliza will explore the challenges and triumphs of coming out in the admission field from the perspective of both supervisee and supervisor, and offer resources and insight into how to make your workplace an inclusive and safe space.

First-Gen 101: Support Across Both Sides of the Desk
This session will provide a primer for supporting first-generation students as they apply and transition to college. Presenters will provide historic context on first-generation students, explain the difficulties this population typically faces in applying to and integrating into college communities, and offer suggestions for how admissions and college counselors can support this population.

Data-Driven Evolution: Transforming Community College for Student Success
Participants in this session will delve into the proactive use of data for decision-making, focusing on revolutionizing community college programs. Data-driven insights will catalyze the refinement of services, infusing efficiency into programs and empowering students on the path to successful degree completion. Anticipate an exploration of strategies promising to reshape the landscape of community college education through data-driven decision-making.

Breaking Down the Early Decision Dilemma: Access, Aid, & Affordability
This session will be largely discussion-based, and will aim to bridge the gap of understanding surrounding Early Decision for attendees on both sides of the desk. We will cover a brief history of Early Decision, examine what the data surrounding ED applications looks like today, and discuss who this application round benefits - and who it doesn't.

Testing Our Patience : Evaluating the Transition to the Digital PSAT/SAT

Building a Successful Admissions Student Leadership Program
Our excellent student tour guide and ambassador programs enhance the success of our admissions office and recruitment events. Our student leadership training reduces professional staffing needs, enhances communications, improves team building, and provides a meaningful experience for our student tour guides. We will offer tips on developing training schedules, how we utilize students, share testimonials, and provide you with great ideas on how to cultivate your tour guides into leaders on your campus.

Selecting an Affordable School – Information to Help Families and Students Make an Informed Financial Decision
While there is certainly more to school selection than affordability, too often students are deciding to attend schools that make little sense financially. The end result is that many end up borrowing more than they should or having to transfer to a more affordable school. In this session we’ll discuss concepts (like Net Price and ROI) and share information and tools that can help students and families have increased choices and be better prepared to make informed decisions.
