Two Important announcements from the Nominating Committee

Online Voting for President-Elect and Assembly Delegates opened on March 1st.  This year we will be selecting one President-Elect from two extremely qualified candidates.  If you are a NACAC member, you will also be able to vote for two college-side Assembly Delegates, and one alternate delegate from both the high school and college side.  Voting Ends on March 31st.  Click here to see who is running and to access your ballot!

The nominating committee asks that you take a few minutes to nominate a staff member or colleague who has been an asset to NEACAC.  Our awards are great ways to recognize those in our profession who often go unrecognized.  We are accepting nominations for The IDEAL Award, Professional of the Year, Rising Star, and the William S Neal Award.  All award nominations forms and more information about each one are available from the NEACAC homepage.

Recognizing Colleagues for

Great Volunteer Work

Eliza Etter, UVM

NEACAC would not be the same without its many amazing volunteers.  The Ad-Hoc Committee for Volunteers would like to recognize their contributions, starting with Eliza Etter from the University of Vermont!  Eliza is a member of the Annual Meeting & Conference Committee.  She was nominated by Christina Berardi and Michael Iorio, who had this to say about her accomplishments:

“Eliza is chairing the communications committee for the upcoming Super Conference. For the first time, New England is joining forces with New York State to host an event that will offer both affiliates the opportunity to serve their members in a unique way this June. The steering committee is made up of over 60 members who were charged with collaborating and developing an event that honors the traditions of both affiliates while incorporating the best practices of each side. Eliza's committee is not only doing that within her group, but also working hard to communicate each aspect of this event to prospective attendees.

Eliza's work has been outstanding. She has proven herself to be organized, creative and thoughtful. She anticipates needs of those around her and engages each member of her team. She is a true leader and the Super Conference Steering Committee is thankful for her service.”

Congratulations, Eliza!

NEACAC’s Annual Essay Contest for High School Juniors and Seniors

The 2018 NEACAC annual essay contest is now open!

Secondary School Counselors, please encourage your high school juniors and seniors to submit an essay for NEACAC’s Annual Essay Contest. Stay Up-to-Date on Current Trends in Our Profession: Recommendations from the Current Trends Committee

Current Trends committee would like to greet our NEACAC compatriots with an invitation to do a little winter reading!  The following articles were identified by committee members as especially interesting about the current state of our profession.  Knowing that the list of articles of interest could be just too vast, we offer a diverse collection here, everything from an exhortation to do more reading, to a proposal to look at admissions in a different way, to supporting (or not) the choir of student voices on campus, to a reminder about the annual engagement survey.  It's a varied group of articles that we hope will stir comment and consideration.

If this inspires others to share especially timely or interesting articles, all the better!  Staying well informed about current trends only helps us serve our students better.

We hope to provide these kinds of suggestions on a periodic basis.  Many thanks to Jackie Haas, who inspired the committee membership to share some ideas.
