Part II: #BlackAtSchool, #BlackInCollegeAdmission, #BlackInCollegeCounseling: The Sobering Truth About the Black Experience at Our Institutions (Sponsored by the IDEA Committee)
Black students and colleagues are speaking out about their experiences at our schools, and their truths must not be ignored. In this Community Conversation, we will review social media posts related to the college counseling and admission processes of Black students and the work experiences of our Black colleagues. We will then, speaking from the "I" perspective, outline action steps we plan to take to help dismantle white supremacy and truly see, hear, and value our Black peers. *This Community Conversation is Part II of the Community Conversation that began on July 16th and focused on the experiences of Black students. On August 3, the discussion will focus on the experiences of our Black colleagues. Prior to the discussion taking place on August 3, please ensure that you are familiar with the ways in which white supremacy culture manifests. Options for completing pre-work include: viewing the recording and minutes of Part I, reading slides 4-19 of the slideshow from Part I, or reviewing the white supremacy culture resource document from Dismantling Racism: A Workbook for Social Change Groups. Register Here

In order to support each other, NEACAC will be offering a series of Community Conversations via our Zoom Platform for members to support one another and ask questions. Each scheduled conversation will have a different topic. Please be on the lookout of the announcement of the dates and times of the upcoming virtual conversations.

If there is another topic you would like NEACAC to discuss, please email [email protected] with the subject “Community Conversations.”
